The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a type of virus that causes damages to the body’s immune system. When left untreated, the HIV will kill off CD4 cells (a type of white blood cells called T cells that are vital for the immune system), which increases risks of infections and cancers.
If you are sexually active, you should get a HIV test annually, even if you practice protected sex. If you have had unprotected sex or shared a needle with someone else, you should speak to a medical professional immediately.
One thing to note would be window periods for the detection of HIV in different test methods. For instance, fourth generation tests can detect HIV within four weeks of transmission, while third generation tests detect HIV after 3+ months of transmission. Thus, individuals are always recommended to do a re-test after 3 months for higher accuracy.
The Wondfo One Step HIV1/2 Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma Test (2 lines) is a rapid immunochromatographic direct binding test for the visual detection of HIV antibodies in whole blood, serum or plasma samples in the diagnosis of HIV infection. One step HIV test cassette adopts double antigen sandwich method.
When the specimen is added into the test device, the specimen is absorbed into the device by capillary action, mixes with the antigen-dye conjugate, and flows across the pre-coated membrane.
When the HIV antibody levels are at or above the detection limit of the test, HIV antibodies in the specimen bind to the antigen-dye conjugate and are captured by antigen immobilized in the test region (T) of the device. This produces a colored test band and indicates a positive result.
When the HIV antibody levels are zero or below the detection limit of the test, there is not a visible colored band in the test region (T) of the device. This indicates a negative result.
To serve as a procedure control, a colored line will appear at the control region ©, if the test has been performed properly.
For result interpretation, kindly refer to the instruction manual insert in the packaging or refer to the result interpretation table under the Description tab.
If your results are invalid, you will need to retake the test with a new test kit. Kindly take note that used test kits will not be refundable or returnable.
No. Only 10μl of blood sample is needed - equivalent to 0.01ml.
Users will be required to use a lancet or sterilized needle to prick their fingers to collect a small amount of blood sample. While every individual has different pain tolerance, the pain that can be felt when getting stung with a new lancet can be compared to an ant bite.
The Wondfo One Step HIV1/2 Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma Test (2 lines) has a sensitivity of 99.1% and specificity of 99.2%. Its precision is 100%.
The results can be read within 15 minutes.
HIV can be transmitted through bodily fluids like blood, breast milk, semen, vaginal fluid, or rectal fluid. Common ways of transmission are through sexual intercourse and the sharing injection needles.
Mother-to-child transmission of HIV is possible during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. However, the use of HIV medicines during pregnancy and other strategies may help to lower risks of transmission.
Currently, most Malaysia hospitals and selected clinics provide HIV patients with the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). It consists of at last 3 antiretroviral (ARV) drugs to suppress or stop the disease to develop further.
Yes. However, most cases of death with HIV is not caused by the HIV itself, but due to the weakened immune system and other infections or diseases that come with it, such as the Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
